Concept
Heavy rainfall events are unpredictable and becoming more frequent. Large amounts of water enter buildings from outside, for example via basement stairs. Drains in basements are often clogged, for instance by leaves and debris. Basement doors are frequently not airtight enough to withstand the water pressure.
Water that penetrates the walls cannot be manually removed; it can only be pumped to higher areas. The walls act like a sponge and absorb water immediately.
This scenario was experienced by a Berlin specialist doctor with a laboratory in the basement.
